Traditional Chinese Medicine employs many modalities of healing with acupuncture being one of the main pillars. A full intake of the person's health history and lifestyle are taken including a pulse and tongue diagnosis, which will help to give a big picture of what's happing within the patient's body.

Acupuncture is applied by inserting very thin filaments or needles into specific points on the body. There are 361 main acupuncture points that have specific functions to help balance the body's natural healing abilities. Approximately 10 points are selected for the individual's condition, usually to help with the main concern and to address the root cause of the problem. They can be left in for 20 minutes up to 45 minutes, depending on the person and their condition.

The needles are incredibly thin and are inserted with very little discomfort and usualy can not be felt at all. Most people take the time to relax and take a nap.

Other modalities that can be used during an acupuncture treatment are cupping, electro-stimulation, massage, gua sha, moxabustion, reiki, essential oils and auricular therapy.

My childhood was filled with many forms of natural healing that my Granny taught me, from treating deep coughs with mustard plasters to using different foods or teas to help balance the body. My Granny showed me how to grow a garden and live a more natural way by pickling, canning or freezing anything from fish to cucumbers to wild blueberries. My Mom still goes out and picks morel mushrooms in the Blue Mountains of Manitoba.

My professional study in healing began in 1996 when I attended a 2200 hour diploma course in Zen Shiatsu Therapy at the Shiatsu School of Canada in Toronto and earned my Certified Shiatsu Therapy Certification (CST) from the province of Ontario. Zen Shiatsu is an incredible whole body massage that is based in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) theory. I went on to work at a world class spa in the Banff Springs Hotel.

As amazing as Shiatsu is I found myself wanting to learn more about Traditional Chinese Medicine, so I attended the three-year diploma Acupuncture program at Grant MacEwan University in Edmonton in 2001 and am a member of good standing with the College of Acupuncturists of Alberta (CAA) as a Doctor of Acupuncture.

I currently practice full time in my own office and have successfully treated hundreds of people for conditions such as neck/back/shoulder/knee pain, headaches and migraines, PMS, fertility, IBS, and many others. I feel Western medicine doesn’t offer healthy options without including possible major side effects. My scope of practice and experience has afforded me sound advice in diet and lifestyle recommendations as well as concrete treatment plans to attain all of your health goals.
